Biting the Bullet: The Indian Rebellion of 1857

Single Delegate Crisis Committee
Maximum size: 22 delegations
Background Guide
Exactly one hundred years after the Battle of Plassey and the rise of British dominance in India, tensions between the British East India Company and the Indian populace have reached a boiling point. A growing sense of discontent has spread across the subcontinent, fueled by economic exploitation, cultural clashes, and military grievances. Amid this unrest, the 1857 Indian Rebellion erupts, plunging India into chaos and threatening the foundations of British rule. Representing a diverse array of factions—including sepoys, British officers, and powerful local entities—delegates must navigate a volatile landscape of shifting allegiances and rising hostilities. As the fate of India hangs in the balance, delegates must make a crucial decision: remain loyal to the East India Company, or join the uprising for independence?
