The Congress of Vienna was an attempt at creating a new power structure in Europe after Napoleon’s reign as the leader of France came to an end due to military defeats in the Napoleonic Wars. It brought together the major monarchies of Europe in an attempt to suppress any revolutionary sentiments in order to reestablish their power under the old regime. To do this, borders were redrawn, monarchs were appointed, and the states were placed into a new balance of power. This order persisted for long after this congress in some parts of Europe, despite multiple rebellions in opposition to this conservative order. And in others, the rebellions were successful at shaping a new frontier. Now it’s your turn to simulate this key congress and travel back in time to take your stab at reshaping 19th century Europe. Prepare for a weekend of twists and turns as the states of Europe vie for power and be ready for history as you know it to be changed!
